This website was made by Benjamin Barretta, Dori Costello, Bill Nguyen and Josh Wuller. This website is all about the CSIT Department and it’s 6 different majors. The 6 majors of the CSIT Department are Computer and Information Sciences, Computer Science, Computer and Information Technology (Concentration Application Development and Interactive Application Design), Computer Systems Management, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics.
Computer and Information Science
Computer Science is more than just programming and database languages. It is a fully fundamental discipline that provides understanding of how computers and computer systems operate as well as developing technologies that benefit society. By majoring in computer science, you will develop skills in hardware design, systems design, software development and design, algorithm development, and the processes of storing, retrieving and transferring data. Additionally, at Chestnut Hill College, computer science majors will also be able to interact with others who have similar interests, along the way earning a degree which shows a developed capacity to think creatively, logically and quantitatively.
Minimum Requirements For Laptop:
- Operating System – Windows 10 (64 bit version only)
- Memory – Minimum 8 GB RAM
- Processor – Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 (2.0 GHz or better) CPU must support Virtualization Technologies
- Hard disk – Preferred minimum 256 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) or conventional hard disk 500GB or larger
Internship:
A computer and information science major can intern in the technology department of profit and non-profit organizations, in computer software companies, government agencies and technology corporations. To check out more for internship, go to out student internship subpage.
Computer and Information Technology
Computer and Information Technology is more than just data processing and web surfing. It’s about how computers operate and how they are used in many areas of daily life. Majors learn about computer hardware, computer software, web development and design, program design, and multimedia development, managing information systems and digital forensics.

Computer Systems Management
The Computer Systems Management major prepares students for the world of technology in the business sector by introducing them to a variety of current hardware and software technologies. This major provides background and experience in problem solving enabling students to learn and adapt to new technologies they will meet in the workplace. The Computer Systems Management major is designed to produce well-rounded, technically knowledgeable individuals capable of moving into multiple areas of Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Management, or Project Management.
Internship:
All students in this major participate in an internship that enables them to apply their academic knowledge and gain experience in the workplace. Students work closely with the Director of Experiential Learning in Career Services and the Center’s internship advisor to complete the internship process. To check out more for internship, go to out student internship subpage.
Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is a professional field that focuses on the protection, prevention, monitoring, and investigation of unauthorized access of computer and network systems. This can include the theft of data such as personal or proprietary information, damage to software or hardware systems, and the disruption, interception or misdirection of technology services.
Minimum Requirements For Laptop:
- Operating System – Windows 11 (64bit version only)
